Red Dog, Red Dog

Red Dog, Red Dog | Patrick Lane

"Red Dog Red Dog" is very different from the books I used to read. The images jumped back and forth encircling a family of desolate characters. They are ineloquent to the extreme, hearing them speak is a rare treat. A picture of barrenness, isolation, and forlornness. At the same time, "Red Dog Red Dog" is not an easy read, you have to be willing to stay with the narrator (sometimes a one-year-old ghost!), the characters, the story, to absorb the grief, helplessness and unspoken emotions. I pray hard for you

I pray hard.

I pray hard for you; I pray hard for safety, well being, happiness, and success, for you and your loved ones. I pray hard for that you would be okay in everything you do, for every moment, every aspect of your life.

I still pray hard for one day being your friend again, a seemingly impossible wish for an infinitely slim chance of reconciliation, for a second chance to do it right. I pray so hard that I can feel my heart jumps out of this body, this … view post

But I just finished The Road Less Traveled, again, and was really struck by much of what he wrote 25 years ago, now.

Thanks for saying hi. Hope you are having a good week.

Thanks so much for your note the other day. I, like you, seem to be insatiably curious about the things of the world. And where else are we going to find out all that we want to know if we don't read and travel . . . . probably the only authentic ways to ever discover how someone else really thinks and lives?

I see you just add Lewis to your shelf. I've read him a few times and I think he is such a complicated and interesting man. I'd love to know your feelings about him sometime. (cont)
