The Rhino With Glue-on Shoes: And Other Surprising True Stories Of Zoo Vets And Their Patients

The Rhino With Glue-on Shoes: And Other Surprising True Stories Of Zoo Vets And Their Patients

Highly recommend

Edited by Lucy H. Spelman, DVM and Ted Y. Mashima, DVM with a foreword by Jack Hanna, I really enjoyed this book of short stories by wildlife veterinarians. Easy to read, pick up to read when you don't have much time, or read it all at one go. These are all actual rescues or attempted rescues of wildlife, the stories range from an elephant to a dung beetle and many a strange animal in between. It's a wonderful testament to the care and devotion these men and women give to the animals they have… read review

Help, I've lost my comptetion for reading 100 books in 2009!

I'm in both the 50 books in 2009, which I've found and posted my Feb list in, but I can't find the posts for the 100 books in 2009! Can someone direct me? Is there a way of searching posts under a group?
Thanks to anyone who can help!

    Betty,
Thx for accept’g the invitation. I’m read’g the book you reviewed earlier. How did you find books published by small publishers? I always take the clues by browsing the stores. They usually put popular books out on the tables where everyone can easily spot. There aren’t many Cdn books on the tables. I’m sure there’re hidden treasures. I’m glad to come across your reviews & I’m thankful there are so many other reviewers who are generous to share. You guys are the beacon light.

You know, that book is better ever time a read it. It's the same for Siddartha, by Hermann Hesse. I like books that have a good message and are also fun to read. Have read 'The Celestine Prophecy'? I liked that as well.

At least your husband has a great sense of humor about the whole thing my husband looks through the paper to see how many people died with Parkinson's Disease & he stresses everyone out by walking around huffing & puffing. I am having so many problems with my diabetes & the stress. Last week I made up my mind that I am going to come first & my blood sugars are doing great now because I make sure I am eating properly.

Hi Betty, I noticed I hadn't seen you for awhile on Community, wow 70 years marriage that is incredible. My mom & dad's is going to be 65 next year but of course my mom won't know, which is sad for my father. Not doing to much myself, someone has to be home with my husband now so I don't get out to much because he has to use a walker now. He had so many falls lately that the piece that joins his upper arm & lower arm together right off. He has had surgery with a lot of wires & pins.

    Hi Betty,

The 39 Clues series is written for kids ages 9-12, but I know a lot of older "kids" (myself included) who love the series.

Well Betty - I am still without my dedicated data line at home! One thing about the "age of electronic data" it certainly makes life v-e-r-y interesting! Hang in there - have worked w/cpus since 1965! I really enjoyed that note & will look into several of the titles myself. Thanks.

  • What are ARCs and How Do I Get Them?

I know some sites have been posted in other groups, but I have once again been asked so thought I'd start a group that we could all share our contacts. An ARC is an Advance Reading Copy and should not be distributed to anyone else as it is actually a proof. Here are the sites I most often deal with; some are ARCs, some are simply contest pages. No conflict that we are on Chapters-Indigo, the books for the most part are released to the store & your review as well. -continued
