Outstanding Canadian Literature.

The Book of Negroes is an amazing fictional account of the Slave trade in Africa, Europe and the America's. Hill's character Aminata is one of the most memorable heroines I have ever encountered in literature. I clearly see why it won Canada Reads. Bravo to Lawrence Hill for creating such a masterpiece of Canadian Literature. read review

    Thanks for your note John. Haven't read much on ATG, but have on Julius Caesar. Highly recommend Adrian Goldsworthy's bio if you want a detailed history of the man and his times. Also enjoyed Phillip Freeman's much lighter piece on JC--a much quicker read but more superficial. Both are excellent books. Cheers.

    Hey John! I'd try "Waiter Rant," by Steve Dublanica (obviously about the service industry) or "Union Station," by Joe Fiorito, which looks at some of the underbrow/unspoken for in the city. Hope you enjoy!
