Compassionate Story about the Power of Hope
5 months ago

In the tradition of Deborah Ellis, from the garbage dumps of Guatemala and the tragic death of their mother, with no money and only an address on a tattered piece of paper to guide them, two brothers, Libertad and Julio, start the treacherous journey to find their father in America. Alma Fullerton’s multi-award-winning book is worthy of all of its accolades. Written in simple verse, her style is easy to get lost in as is the voice of her main character Libertad. Fullerton’s prose and short sec… read review

Oh, I can find it on the site. The Community just won't let me post a note with the word in it! It asks me to delete it before it will post.

I shall remove that one, and see if I can't get a list together with others.

The web site won't even let me type the title! That's funny. By far, the oddest thing I have come across is called "Cun* Coloring Book" by Dee Corrinne. It came up in Kiosk when I was looking for a Womens Studies book for a customer: "Cun*, A Declaration of Independance" by Inga Muscio. The look on my face when the 1st one came up had the customer demanding to know what was so shocking! It made her laugh. I printed it off to show my boss. She thinks I have a knack for finding strange stuff.

Should I keep the more "out there" titles to myself, or is the whole catalogue open? I don't want to go against a company policy.

I have a strange question, and don't know who to ask. Since we are new friends, I thought I would try to describe it to you. LOL! Can anything listed in our collection be added in Top Tens, reviews, etc?

I have worked for the company for about 16 months now. Over that time, my co-workers and I have "stumbled" across some oddities while searching items for customers and such. I thought about doing a Top Ten of the most unusual/unexpected titles we have found. But some of these...

Thanks KE. Yeah I'm on the list and I have a great relationship with our local RH rep and Jennifer Herman at RH.
Have you read Alvin Ho Allergic to School, Girls, and other Scary Things. It's fabulous. I can't wait to read the next one.

    Hello K.E.
Just thought I'd let you know a little bit about me. I am the fulltime Kids CER at Chapters in Dartmouth NS. The Penderwicks and Fablehaven are some of the books I most often recommend and I love the 39 Clues.
I have a great a friend in my local RH Rep and wish I could develop that with reps from other publishers as well. It helps to sell books to have the inside info.
I love to get kids excitied about reading. Love their enthusiasm for a great story.
Gifted is on my list too.

Thank you so much on the info about 'The Dragonfly Pool'. I love Eva Ibboston, I am such a huge fan, and I am ecstatic about a new book! Have you read any of her work? I strongly recommend 'Journey to the River Sea' and 'The Star of Kazan'. They are fantastic reads, very enchanting.

    :)
