  • Chapters ebook purchased cannot download on Sony eReader

Posted by Carole Leclair-Camirand, 2 years ago

Checked with Chapters (by tel) and was told Kobo ebooks can be read on Sony eReader. I used a gift card and purchased a book which was downloaded into Adobe Digital Editions (epub file), but cannot upload it to my Sony eReader. Kobo (by tel) tells me there is something wrong with Adobe Digital Editions. Kobo told me to stay on tel and that they would contact Adobe for me and that I should wait on tel. I finally hung up after holding for over a half-hour.
    Help?

Both Sony and Kobo use Adobe DRM, so you should be able to read a book purchased from Kobo and sideloaded onto your Sony. Where's your hangup? I know when my sister was activating Adobe for her Sony, she had to go through a few steps. Is Adobe Digital Editions activated for your Sony? If yes, then when you plug in your Sony you'll see it listed on the left and you should be able to drag your ebook onto the device.

Are you getting an error message? If so, what?

I will try to explain: I have Reader Library for Sony as a thumbnail on my desktop; I also have Adobe Digital Editions as a thumbnail on my destop; and I have Kobo as a thumbnail on my destop. I purchased an ebook at Chapters (Kobo eReader) and it downloaded into the Kobo homepage. I can aslo view it in the Adobe Digital Editions. My problem is that when I plug in the USB for the Sony eReader, the Sony eReader shows on the screen that it is recharging. I wait long enough for it to recharge (until the screen indicates that it is recharged in full) and from there I don't know what to do next. Appreciate any help Thanks

Okay, so it sounds like you've downloaded the Adobe DRM epub file from Kobo and it shows up in the Adobe Digital Editions software. Try plugging in your Sony eReader, then launching Adobe Digital Editions. On the left, under "Bookshelves", your Sony eReader should show up. After that, you'll be able to drag your book onto the Sony bookshelf icon.

I'm not familiar with the Sony Reader software (I only had a quick glimpse of my sister's once.) It sounds, though, like you can associate Adobe to the Reader software and use the latter to manage all your content. Maybe the info on the following page will help you - http://ebooks.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/145

(Cont'd - went over the character limit.)

If you're still having problems, MobileRead has a great forum for different eReaders - http://www.mobileread.com/forums/. There's a subforum just for Sony eReaders. If you don't see your question already asked there, I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

    Good luck!
