I highly recommend Peter V. Brett"s the Warded Man and it's sequel The Desert Spear. Best Fantasy I've read in a long time!

    Does anyone here Journal?

Posted by Wordsgood, 3 years ago

Hi Everyone! I'm sending this note out to all the groups I belong to on this site, to see if there might be a substantial interest in my starting one about Journaling. (I was unable to find any such club despite a rather exhaustive search.)

    So....Do You Journal?

If so, are you interested in sharing your journal ideas, concepts, resources, and tidbits on how you find inspiration? Do you know that there are a myriad of ways to journal, aside from the old notebook and pen standby? Have you heard of visual journaling? Using collages, mind maps, Venn diagrams, etc.? Do you like to use a lot of colour in your journaling - be it fancy paper, or coloured and glittery pens, borders, drawing, or whatever takes your fancy?

Did you know there are many sites on the internet that not only offer gorgeous journals to fit every possible taste and many budgets, but also a wide range of writing and journaling sites that offer free writing and journaling prompts.

Are you like me and like to have different journals for different purposes? I have journals for freewriting, journals where I vent, whine and say whatever is on my mind, no matter how nasty it is, just to get if off my chest knowing that there will be no repercussions because only I see it! I have journals where I write about about a fictional life, ones where I write letters to historical figures and/or fictional ones. And yet more journals for other purposes.

And you? Do you have more than one journal? Do you let your imagination run wild? If not, would you be willing to try?

Perhaps you have some cool ideas for creating journals, or dressing up plain ones, or maybe know of a new, but little known, way of journaling that you would like to share? Conversely, would you like to learn from others about the many different types of journaling, from paper to electronic, and even with fabric I've heard!

I know that for me, journaling is a way of self expression, a way to work through life's many challenges, a way to get my creative juices flowing and in general, it is a vital tool that helps me to heal physically and mentally when dealing with pain - emotional and physical - as well as loss, grief and suffering. Journaling for me, is quite simply an essential part of my life!

If you love to journal, and are interested in speaking with others of a like mind, then please pop by my profile and leave me a note saying so. If I can garner enough interest, I will happily start a group.

  • Need Help Finding a Book

Posted by mb vv, 4 years ago

Right now I'm crazy busy with stuff and if I'm going to read at all I need something that I can pick up and put down with ease. Something that you will get some enjoyment from if only for a couple of minutes and that won't get you so deeply involved that it pulls you from your other work (that last requirement is the hard part I know). Any suggestions off the top of your head?

  • Patience is a virtue

They say patience is a virtue, it is also however a requirement if you happen to be a reader of the Ice and Fire series as I am. Though I must say with Martin's books the wait is always worth it.
Would anyone be able to suggest a good read while I wait?

  • Song Of Ice And Fire

I am currently waiting (impatiently) for the next book of george RR Martin's a song of ice and fire series, I think it's called a dance of/with dragons? Not sure. Has anyone else out there read these books? I highly recommend them!
