I started this group a while ago a place a random topic for discussion. Needless to say the number of members or willing contributors were not up for it. Ha ha ha.....

So this time around, since we have a few more members than when we started, lets open it up. What do we want to discuss. Favourite movie adaptation. (I for one will have to mention the fact that I hate....hate the fact that they adopted Fever Pitch for the 'American' audience.) Favourite character...etc.......

I hope people are willing to get this going. Speak to you soon.

    Members - Guided Discussion!

Posted by Carmine, 5 years ago

This is just a quick post to say that I am happy to see people wanted to join the group. I wasn't sure if there was going to be any or much interest...but three members in less than a week...I think may be a good sign.

So I would like to get the group started and keep it going. My thoughts are that perhaps we start a guided reading of Hornby's latest book Slam. I just received it in the post the other day, I haven't started it yet, so perhaps its a good place to start?

    What does everyone think?

If it sound like a good idea, perhaps we can start in a few weeks, in order to gain further members and begin then.

High Fidelity is definitely his best -- and the movie too. It was definitely a guy's book (nothing wrong with that cuz the guys were cool) but his female characters were equally as flawed and that made the book all the more interesting. About a Boy was also brilliant.

    Thoughts?

Looking for any fans of Nick Hornby. Discussion of favorite books, characters, least favorite, etc.......

High Fidelity is by far my fav. Could be due to me working in a record store, but the connections he created were just too good for me not to hold this book in high regards.
