  • Newest Post-apocalyptic novel

Posted by Caitie Perry, 14 months ago

I have been a fan of P.A. novels, tv shows and movies for years. I think the end of the world holds a strange sort of terrifying fascination for me.
The most recent P.A. novel (that I am aware of) is Pure by Julianna Baggott. I'm only about half way through, but am thoroughly enjoying it thus far. The world ends from nuclear war. Those lucky enough to make it inside The Dome were spared the devestation - they are called The Pures. Those not so lucky, were faced with the initial destruction of the bombs and still live in the deadlands America has become. What makes this book very unique is the way The Wretches (those who were not in The Dome) became fused to objects they were near because of nanotechnology in the weapons. One character has birds (still living) fused into his back. Pressia has a doll's head for her left hand and her grandfather has a hand-held fan as a part of his throat. This is probably going to end up as a must-read for post-apocalyptic lovers. I'll let you know my final review when I complete the novel.
