    UR

Posted by Christine L, 2 years ago

UR is Stephen King showing us his best as a short story writer. A Kindle e-reader, alternate realities, a couple of interesting relationships, and a suspenseful plot. Mr. King gives us just enough of everything … characters fleshy enough to get to like (or hate as the case may be), an ordinary everyday existence that tip toes into the realms of the twilight zone, a plot thick enough to draw the reader in, and a couple of moral questions that make you go “Hmmmmm?”. A few references to and surprise appearances by characters of previous novels make it interesting for Stephen King fans but would not take away from the story if you were a first time King reader.
Someone once told me that a novel is like a lake condensed into a puddle. In UR Mr. King takes a thunderstorm and condenses it into a raindrop.
Read UR on your Kindle … I dare you!

    JUST AFTER SUNSET

Posted by Christine L, 3 years ago

His latest collection of short stories. Some I loved, others were just alright and some were rereads of short stories that have been published before. As I have mentioned before I am a huge King fan, so as long as he keeps writing I will keep reading.

  • Just After Sunset

Posted by Angela Hemming, 3 years ago

I received the new book of short stories Just After Sunset for my birthday 2 days ago, and am looking forward to reading it. Has anyone else read it yet? If so, what story was your favorite? I was shocked to discover after making an inventroy of my books that I don't have and have never read Skeleton Crew, so I am currently reading that and am almost through it. There are some really good ones in there, such as Survivor Type, and others that I have read similar short stories in other collections, such as The Man Who Would Not Shake Hands (it is still good too) and The Monkey. Then there are a couple that shouldn't be in there, such as For Owen. And I could swear I have read The Raft somewhere else before. Any thoughts or opinions on the stories in this collection?

  • Anyone else heard about this?

I was on another site (www.goodreads.com) and saw a new book of short stories, including a story by Stephen King as well as one by his son, Joe Hill.

I was just wondering if anyone else had seen or heard of the book THE LIVING DEAD?

Amazon has the following description ... "When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth!" From White Zombie to Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil to World War Z, zombies have invaded popular culture, becoming the monsters that best express the fears and anxieties of the modern west. Gathering together the best zombie literature of the last three decades from many of today's most renowned authors of fantasy, speculative fiction, and horror, including Stephen King, Harlan Ellison, Robert Silverberg, George R. R. Martin, Clive Barker, Poppy Z. Brite, Neil Gaiman, Joe Hill, Laurell K. Hamilton, and Joe R. Lansdale, The Living Dead covers the broad spectrum of zombie fiction.

  • For My Brother

Posted by emerson entwistle, 4 years ago

My brother, William , likes fantasy books. He loved all the books in the Eragon series, it's about a dragon or something. Anyway for Christmas (yes I'm already thinking about it, I hate the rush so I start early) I was thinking of getting him a Stephen King book? I wanted to get him the first Dark Tower book, I've never read them but in his short story collection "Sisters of Eluria" was in one of the Dark Tower books or something. Anyway do you think he would like it? Is it fantasy? He also read and enjoyed some Wilbur Smith books, the ones that were in Eygpt, if that helps. Please let me know if any of you have read and enjoyed the books that he liked and if you've read Dark Tower and enjoyed that as well. Thanks!

  • Recommend a Book?

Can anyone recommend another 'Stand' or 'It' type of book by King? I love the 'ensemble cast' type of books he writes.... epic stories told from all different perspectives.
