    POIROT

    Posted by A Prairiegirl ♫, 8 months ago

    I also love to watch Poirot, but especially David Suchet portraying Hercule Poirot. He has the tiny footsteps, the intense stare, and the expression of his "litttle grey cells" absolutely down PAT. This video is titled Death on the Nile.

    GERALDINE MCEWAN hangs up her hat as MISS MARPLE

    Posted by A Prairiegirl ♫, 8 months ago

    This news item made me a bit sad. I found Geraldine McEwan the 'perfect' miss Marple. ( Apparently so did Agatha Christie herself )
    You can still watch Geraldine on Dvd of Miss Marple. She played the role for 5 years, and had the perfect balance of wit, intelligence, and mischief, and always appeared approachable and warm. I find other actresses playing the role, mistakenly have a coldness about them. Geraldine always had a mischievous twinkle in her eye. Very lovable. If you get the chance please try to watch these wonderful DVDs.

    Steven Appleby's Captain Star

    Posted by Paul Marlowe, 11 months ago

    If you remember the quirky TV cartoon called Captain Star (it came out in the late 90s, and was a joint UK/Canadian production with Richard E Grant playing the voice of Captain Star) - you might like the the comic strips that were the foundation of the TV series.

    Steven Appleby is also the creator of the comic strip and film series Small Birds Singing, and the BBC radio series Normal Life. One of Britain's best loved cartoonists, his work has appeared in newspapers and magazines internationally, including the Times, the Guardian, and the Observer. He has written and illustrated numerous books. Appleby is a dual citizen of the United Kingdom and Canada.

    This Holiday Brought to you by...The Black Adder

    Posted by Morrigan, 11 months ago

    Still one of my all time favourite Brit-Coms...brilliant writing, brilliant acting...can we expect anything less than that from the Brits?

    After the Queen 'bans' Christmas, Melchett and the Black Adder are at a loss of what to do. Black Adder's Christmas Carol is a must for fans of the show...

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Blackadder: Ah! Got him with my subtle plan
    Baldrick: I didn't see a subtle plan...
    Blackadder: Baldrick, you wouldn't see a subtle plan if it painted itself purple and danced naked on top of a harpsichord, singing subtle plans are here again!
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Lord Blackadder: Ah, Melchett! Greetings! I trust Christmas brings to you its traditional mix of good food and violent stomach cramp.
    Lord Melchett: And compliments of the season to you, Blackadder. May the Yuletide log slip from your fire and burn your house down.

  • This holiday is brought to you by...Mr. Bean

    Posted by Morrigan, 11 months ago

    Where but in Mr. Bean's Christmas could you have coughing wise men, a whole lot of shhhhing, a multitude of baaa-ing sheep, a crazy herding sheepdog, a robot... and a t-rex (my favourite). When things get a little too hectic in Mr. Bean's Nativity scene at Harrods, the angel comes in by helicopter to save the Baby Jesus. Classic Christmas Brit-com is the Merry Mishaps of Mr. Bean.

  • Coronation Street Fans?

    Posted by emerson entwistle, 14 months ago

    Does anyone else love Corrie? I watch it every night, it's the only soap that I watch. If you've never seen it, it takes a couple of weeks to get to know most of the characters but you catch on really quickly, so try to give it a watch! It's on CBC Monday - Friday at 7:00 but I live in Vancouver so thats Pacific time. Are there any other Corrie fans out there that would like to discuss and share your thoughts on what's happening in the street?

  • As Time Goes By

    Posted by Nikki, 14 months ago

    I had to post about my favourite Brit-Com, As Time Goes By. The show, which ran from 1992 to 2002, stars Judi Dench & Geoffrey Palmer as friends who fell in love during the Korean War, lost touch, and then find each other over thirty years later.

    Like with most British comedies, the show features sharp dialogue and witty characters. I highly recommend it.
