  • Pre-ordering Books

***** I originally posted this in the Community Focus group, but was asked to post it here as well, so check out that post too to see the comments left on it. The link is here: community.indigo.ca/posts/Community-Focus/group-257/525413.html *****

Earlier today, I decided to pre-order some books that are coming out in early 2009 that are part of some series that I'm reading, and I noticed that there has been a change made in the way a person pre-orders a book from this website. Now all pre-orders use the premium shipping method which costs $5.99 per item and arrives within 2-4 days. To the best of my recollection, I used to be able to pre-order items and receive free shipping on orders over $39 and it would all be delivered in 3-9 days. Is there any way to get the free shipping on pre-orders anymore?

These are some tough economic times, and I don't have the money to be spending $5.99 on all the books I want to pre-order. I feel very loyal to chapters.indigo.ca, so it bothers me that I will have to take my pre-orders to a website that still offers free shipping on pre-orders.

  • Fiction, Genre & Labeling...

Posted by Annastacia Dickerson, 4 years ago

We have a thread going at THE FERTILE IMAGINATION that concerns how book store files books into different genres.

There are a few comments worth looking at. The post starts with a recommendation for a certain book but rest of the thread is about categorizing fiction genres.

    Here's the link:

Curious to see how others feel.

    What makes it special

I like hjow Chapter's has chairs around the store to allow you to sit down and relax while looking for books. Many times I start reading my book in the store because I can't wait to start reading it at home. I also like how helpful the staff are. The experience that really stands out to me was when I went in loking for a book and I was unsure of the name or who had even wrote it and when the staff member came over to assist me they they found it under two minutes,I only had to explain the cover. He explained someone had just bought the book he thought I was thinking of and it was. It was pretty cool and I have had this happen more than once.

    Twilight at Midnight

Posted by Charity, 5 years ago

For those of you in the Halifax Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia. The Chapters in Dartmouth is going to be hosting a midnight screening of the Twilight movie on November 20th. Tickets are available for sale at the store (cash only) and are $10. $3 of that price will go to the Love of Reading Foundation so you will also be supporting a good cause. The screening is at the local theatre, so it will be a real movie going experience, and this is the opening night for the movie, so you won't even have to wait that long!

And if you are really a vampire fiction fanatic, Kelley Armstrong will be doing a signing at the Dartmouth Chapters on November 25th.

I am really tempted to state "creatures of the night, unite!" but I won't.

    Happy reading all!

PS. If you are outside of the HRM you are of course still welcome to attend the screening!

    And the Angels Sang

I must take a moment to thank the staff at Coles, Orangeville Mall, Orangeville, Ontario, for a fabulous book launch for my new anthology of short, speculative fiction, And the Angels Sang. Just as with my last appearance in their store, there was a great display, they'd talked up the event all week, and throughout the day were helpful, pleasant, full of laughter and grace, not just around me, but with all the customers who came through their store. Such a great bunch!

Will very much look forward to accepting their invitation and returning there Saturday, December 6, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
