An avid reader, these are just a few of my very favorite books:

ROCKBOUND by Frank Parker Day (winner of Canada Reads 2005) - a novel of Nova Scotias south shore, you are easily drawn into the loves and hopefulness of the characters, the extremes of their lives... an amazing story I'll surely read again and again!

OUR LADY of the LOST and FOUND by Diane Schoemperlen - a gift from my son, this is a captivating novel that causes one to ponder the possibilities of miracles!

RIVER THIEVES by Michael Crummey, winner of numerous awards - absolutely heartwrentching, I was drawn into the story from the very first pages, as if I were amongst them. Tthis novel has caused me to take a second look at myself.

THE POISONWOOD BIBLE by Barbara Kingsolver (Oprah's book club selection) - the story of a Baptist minister who takes his family on a mission into the Belgian Congo, a story that unfolds into 100 directions in the name of 'saving souls', you will experience sorrow, & fear, relief, love & beauty from cover to cover; an amazing book, don't expect to be able to put it down!

I rarely find a book that I think is special but the book "The Cold Moon" by Jeffery Deaver is one of the best books I've read in years. Unfortunately it was his first book, but hopefully not his last.

Hey, I read your recommendation of "The Poisonwood Bibe."

    Loved it!

I haven't read the first one but the last three are quite good. Poisonwood Bible is definitely on my top ten list - her other stuff is good but this one is the best by far. I just discovered Diane Schoemperlen last year and quite enjoy her writing. Our Lady was one I got free and really didn't think I'd enjoy but it surprised me. River Thieves was quite good as well. I still have a freebie copy of The Wreckage on my shelf so maybe I will move it up the to-read list a bit.
