  • Still Alice

Posted by Kate Matthews, 4 years ago

I would like to recommend a novel to everyone, Still Alice. The novel is about a female Harvard professor who is diagnosed with early onset Alzeimers and it follows her after her diagnosis focusing mainly on her family as well as her internal thoughts.
I promise it isn't as depressing as it sounds, it's a "heather's pick" and Heather admitted that the last thing that she wanted to read was a book about Alzeimers but she's really glad she decided to read it. I feel the same.
The subject matter is serious, of course, but the novel is very readable, very interesting. I bought it less than 9 hours ago and I already finished it!! That's how readable it is.
It almost made me cry, not because it was sad, but because of a really sweet scene where one of her students wrote down how much she meant to him and gave it to her so she could remember how he felt.
This novel is well-written and touching. Beautiful and fairly simple. It was good.

I heard lots of great things about the novel and I put off reading it for too long. I hope that you'll like it too!
