Notes

  • Kevin Peterson

    Kevin Peterson says:

Anthony: Good luck with the UK negotiations. Your book is wonderful and deserves a bigger audience.

  • Kevin Peterson

    Kevin Peterson says:

Great news. Atwood's UK publisher is Bloomsbury, where my friend works, so that gives impetus. I am sure someone will grab it. I'm glad you had a good night -- wish your students well and keep on writing.

    Kevin Peterson says:

Anthony: I hope you had a very good Giller night and I am disappointed that you did not win -- it is still a remarkable achievement. I have my European contacts looking out for Barnacle Love, so do let me know if you get a publisher there. Cheers, Kevin

  • Kevin Peterson

    Kevin Peterson says:

    Anthony,

Thought you might like to know that the Shadow Giller Prize jury has named Barnacle Love this year's winner. By way of explanation, I set up the Shadow jury in year two of the Giller -- the argument being that if you criticize the Real jury, you have to make your choice in advance. Jack Rabinovitch and the Giller people know all about us (he has saluted us at the dinner). If you send me your email address (to kevin@belvedere1.com), I'll send you a copy of our press release.

  • Mary Novik

    Mary Novik says:

Absolutely .... Doubleday is terrific, and they seem to be putting authors into all the top shortlists! Congrats again, and good luck on the Giller!

  • Kevin Peterson

    Kevin Peterson says:

Good luck to your agent -- please let me know if a deal is reached. I do hope if it is published in the UK they describe it as linked novellas or something other than short stories because I do think Barnacle Love has definite Booker potential. Cheers.

  • Kevin Peterson

    Kevin Peterson says:

Anthony: I've recommended your book to a couple of very good UK bloggers (Asylum and The Fiction Desk). Are there any plans yet for UK publication or do I have to convince them to order the book from Canada? Thanks.

    Mary Novik says:

Anthony, wonderful news about Barnacle Love making the Scotiabank Giller shortlist, http://www.scotiabankgillerprize.ca/home.htm
You must be over the moon!
