Samurai Warriors of Food

How can I describe this charming film? The director, Itami made this film supposedly as a satire of spaghetti westerns, samurai movies and the Japanese obsession with perfectionism. In his films, Itami points a scathing and satirical finger at rule-bound Japanese society. Tampopo, (Dandelion), is the name of a young widow trying to make the ultimate noodle soup at her truck stop cafe (noodle soup being the Japanese equivalent of the Greasy Spoon burger). A cri de cœur, a plea, an apology, an explanation, defense and an apologia

This is a wonderful children's movie about loneliness, courage and true friendship. The main character is an 11 year old boy whose parents move around a lot which always makes him the new kid and so he has few friends. His parents promise him a dog and when he goes to the pound, he finds a unique and surprising new companion.

A young widow tries to make noodle soup (the Japanese equivalent to the roadside diner hamburger) at her truck stop café. She wants to make a name for herself as the ultimate noodle soup master and take care of her son, but she can’t cook. Enter Goro, a truck driver who teaches her the samurai path to the consummate noodle.
