The Help was a book that was easy to fall in love with. I had in instant connection and love for the characters, which is what initially draws me into a novel. The Help dealt with difficult issues such as racism and the general treatment of black maids in the 1960s in Jackson, Mississippi. The maids hired for help did everything for the women they worked for. They cleaned everything from top to bottom, cooked, worked late for their employers when they had a dinner party planned and even raised … read review

    I like books that have believable characters the most. Characters who I care for really make the book that much better. I prefer fiction that has a deep story with twists and turns or any kind of story that really grabs my attention, disabling me to put it down. My favourite book is "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follet for all of these reasons.
