The Amber Room: A Novel

The Amber Room: A Novel | Steve Berry

Not Berry's Best

I know that this novel was Berry's first, so i will give him a bit of a break here in my review. The protagonists were unlikeable, the action did not truly start to heat up until the very end and the whole plot was predictable. I won't ruin the ending except to say you may be better off to read another of Steve Berry's later novels which would almost assuredly be more satisfying. read review

Reading Challenge for All

I should have done this last week, but forgot. I challenged the members of my book club (feel free to join: Book Worms Wanted) to read 26 books in 2012. While this may seem easy to do, you can see below how we go for quality, not quantity with this challenge.
The challenge is to read at least one book from every category and more often then not more than one to finish 26 books. Here are last year's categories:

Hey Darth Indurate, what you opinion on graphic novel's in the book challenge. My example would be The Walking Dead vol. 1-?. Each volume is a total of 12 comics so about 384 pages.

About comparisons: I think any traumatic & life changing experience is comparable in that it leaves us with a wound & with having to figure out how we live our lives afterward. It's how you respond to your 'traumas' & crap that's important. People who play the 'my life is more difficult than yours' game annoy me. They miss the point of having to go thru tough things. It's about how you choose to respond & whether it's a wake-up call to look at things more positively & count your blessings. IMHO
