Even though I had heard great things about "The book of Negroes" It still took me a couple of years before I finally got myself a copy. As soon as I flipped open the first page, I was transfixed. And as cliché as this may sound, hooked from word one. As with all phenomenal reads, I found myself questioning what would have caused me to put off reading this truly outstanding novel.
