Tender Morsels | Margo Lanagan

I really wanted to like this book, but...

It's good, but not great. Actually, this re-telling of Snow White and Rose Red is kind of a mystery. I would give it 3 stars out of 5, but by Indigo's definition, that still means that I liked it. I think there are some really strong elements to the book; when the story clicks, it really, really works. Beautiful prose and strong imagery make for a great combo. HOWEVER... there are too many sections that plod along, or they get caught up in vague and airy imagery, or they are just confusing beca… read review

Sorry I haven’t been in touch lately. Life is just too busy! Thought I’d let you know that “Until the Deep Water Stills: An Internet-enhanced Novel” won two awards in the Readers View Literary Awards:

    1. Canada East Region Winner
    2. Writers in the Sky Award for Best Creative Writing of the Year

I have also had a short story accepted for publication in “Canadian Voices, Volume 2 – An Anthology of Prose and Poetry by Emerging Canadian Writers”. A good month! Take care, Michael

Thanks for accepting my friend request. Checked out your blog. Hang in there with your novel. It took me five years to finish mine including the "internet-enhanced component. (Quick bit of shameless self-promotion on that front. I created a cyber introduction which I called "The Metaphor Tour". This link takes you to the launch page: http://mdyetmetaphor.com/blog/the-metaphor-tour )
What genre is your novel? What's the basic premise? I'm always interested to hear other novelist's ideas.

I see you are into Photography, what kind of pics do you like to take. I bought a new camera this year. I am having a blast with it. I am still learning how to use all the settings. I am just bluffing my way through it right now.

Thanks :) For my career i want to do alot of things. I am satisfied with where i am right now but there is alot of other things i would like to try. My new projects this year has giving me a taste of community developement so i might stay in that area for a while but i would like to do more counselling or work with younger kids since i mostly work with 7 to 19 years old. I guess it will depend on the opportunities that come my way during my career but first i have to finish my Bachelor.

It does, I like Butcher, but I you want good Werewolf reads then it is Kelley Armstrong, all the way. I just started reading Caitlin Kittredge and the one I have read was pretty good, lots of action, but none of the gore and action was gratuitous.

Wow that sounds really cool. So you get to read stuff before its published? I'm still in University but ive been a child and youth worker for over 3 years now. I facilitate groups, give workshops, organize fundraisers, do counselling and work on various projects. Right now my biggest project its our 'back to school' program which provides school supplies to low income families. Last year we helped over 200 families, this year were expecting more. Its a great program. :)
