The Book of Negroes: (U.S. Title: Someone Knows My Name) | Lawrence Hill

A remarkable life

Deals with unthinkable cruelty and hardship, but is a novel about hope, courage, and the good in the human heart. A wonderful character. read review

Book News

I am way overdue for a post here! So much has been going on in my life, it's hard to keep up with social networks (when I do try to keep up, I end up not getting any writing done). I have a new chapter book out for kids ages 6-8. It's about a girl and her grandmother, a Japanese bakery, and a missing Maneki Neko (beckoning lucky cat statue). Here's a link to book launch activities and my blog tour:

    Alan Bradley says:

    Hi, Jacquie,

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the audiobook of "Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie".
The next book in the series, "The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag" will be published in March, 2010. If you Google it, you'll find the book's cover and synopsis on the internet.

    With best wishes,

    Alan

    Alan Bradley says:

Hi, Jacqueline. Thanks for your lovely e-mail. I'm happy to be your friend.
The audiobook comes out on April 28th.
Meanwhile, I'll be doing a reading/signing hosted by 32 Books in North Vancouver on February 26th. The actual event is at The Silk Purse, on Argyle.
Joseph Campbell's "Follow Your Bliss" is my favourite quote, too, as well as his remark about having your ladder against the right wall.
    Cheers!
