My laptop needs to go into Apple to get a recalled hinge fixed & it's hard for me to sit at my desktop comp for too long so I haven't been spending much time in the community in the last while. Some really good Highlander authors along with Karen Marie Moning to start with are Hannah Howell and Monica McCarty.
Hannah has both strictly Historical Romance, as well as paranormal romance, I would start with her.
Kresley Cole also has a short Highlanders series. There's also Michele Sinclair and Dawn Halliday.

I definitely recommend LIfe of Pi. I did not understand how much of an impact it would have on me until the very last page. So make sure you read it front to back, and I guarantee that you will love it.
