Narrative is heaped upon narrative in a mis-en abyme gone wild. About 100 pages in, you are in a story within a story within a story...five layers deep. Now, after living in India, it's all about South Asian literature and poetry.

Can any one recommend a good non-fiction book on India or the Middle East for me? Something that isn't biased, has interesting facts, and preferably information on living there. Maybe by an ex-pat?
