The best kind of childrens book

I love reading this book to my kids and they love hearing it. It's the best kind of childrens book. The text is short, the pictures are great and it's so funny! Every page gives you a natural chance to make the strory interactive (ie. What is David doing here, honey?") read review

My Reading challenges for 2010

I have decided to be very ambitious this year and have taken on a number of reading challenges besides my two book clubs in order to clean up my bookshelves. Yes, I own all of these already, some for quite awhile....So I thought that I would write down all my reading commitments (53 books!) here and see if I have acheived my mission by the end of the year. And so, in no particular order....

Just thought I’d let you know that “Until the Deep Water Stills: An Internet-enhanced Novel” won two awards in the Readers View Literary Awards:

    1. Canada East Region Winner
    2. Writers in the Sky Award for Best Creative Writing of the Year

I have also had a short story accepted for publication in “Canadian Voices, Volume 2 – An Anthology of Prose and Poetry by Emerging Canadian Writers”.

A good month for my writing career!

Sherrilyn Kenyon is an amazing author. I would highly recommend you read her books, but start from the beginning..do not start the series with a book that is ine the middle.

Thanks. Much appreciated. I see you like historical fiction. Have you read anything by Katherine Govier? She is a Canadian author who writes in that genre. I highly recommend her work. Take care, Michael

Thanks for accepting my friend request. You have very diverse interests in books. I admire that. I don't have nearly as much time to read as I would like between my day job and writing on the side. Can I entice you to check out my blog? Metaphors of Life Journal aka Things That Make Me Go Hmmm. I add the postings to my Chapters profile. The bog itself is located at www.mdyetmetaphor.com/blog2 Any recommendations for good, contemporary literary fiction novels? Take care, Michael

    F.T. E. says:

yes, I've seen the movie. It's really good but it's very long (3 discs), not to mention that I got the discs mixed up. Yes I now it's generally not a smart thing to watch part 1, then part 3. I ended up watching part 2, then re-watching part 3.

    Cate Crow says:

great shelves Kipsee. I see you love historical and Bond movies like me! I loved Casino Royale as well as the old classics like Goldfinger. Cate

My favorite Jane Austen’s have to be Pride & Prejudice, Sense & sensibility and Persuasion. I was looking at your recommendation list. I also loved Jane Eyre. I’ve see Wuthering Heights, but I actually don’t remember it. Is it just me or after reading a lot of books, do you start to forget them?
As far as reading other Gaskell novels, I don't think that I'll have enough time with all the other books I still have to read. But they do sound good.

  • F.T. E.

    F.T. E. says:

really, which titles were you considering reading? I don't have it up, but you should check out Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South (I also love Jane Austen).
