The Historian

The Historian | Elizabeth Kostova

When you feel disgusted inside...

The past two weeks I have been sleep deprived trying to get through the Historian. It has been put to rest about twenty minutes ago and although I have great respect for the author, I would not recommend this book. From a structural perspective it goes back and forth, sometimes neglecting to tell the reader whose perspective you are being told. The best part of this book, also the worst part is the plot. I am not saying this book was in any way bad, it is a masterpiece in some ways. I have nev… read review

History comes alive

When I pick up a novel and I see it's historical fiction there is always hesitation. What if they have ruined a piece of history? Lately I have been reading historical fiction and loving it. I am applaud authors such as Phillipa Gregory and her research before every novel. It gives me comfort to know she wrote her characters to be human and not just fact to read off a page. More often then not ifind myself crying or shocked at their lives. This is rare for me when reading books, mainly … view post

    Liz (Midnight Bloom) says:

It's definitely a new favourite of mine and almost all of the reviews I've read have shared similar opinions. It's exciting and well-written! It's the first in a new trilogy so the only downside is having to wait a year for the second novel.

    I hope that helps! :)

Divergent is a novel that takes place in a dystopian Chicago that has been divided into 5 different factions. Every year, the 16-year old teens must choose which faction to join which will decide the fate of their future, from their careers to friends and such.

For Beatrice, she leaves Abnegation (selfless) and joins Dauntless (fearless) but joining isn't so simple and she must face the dangerous tests they have in store without revealing a secret that could easily mean her death.

The Cirque du freak series is about a boy named Darren Shan and he practically gives up everything to save his best firend steve. So to save steve Darren becomes a vampire. And steve wanted to be a vampire so he says to Darren "I'll do whatever it takes to hunt you down and kill you". And well i don't want to give away the whole book but there are 12 books to it.

OoOo! I've never thought of Alcide's sister and Sam together, but I think they would make a great couple!

No, I wouldn't call Alcide a relationship. I'd call it more of a lusty friendship where they both want more in a physical sense. I don't really think that will be happening in the future books by the way things have been going between them lately though.

    Take care!

I think you're right. Guilt over a lack of guilt sounds like Sookie's problem. I really like the Tara on the TV show. She's really spunky, and she adds a lot to the plot. I laugh a lot during her scenes.

Sookie does have a lot of short relationships, doesn't she? I agree that going to work and having your ex as your boss would be a nightmare. I really hope that Sam ends up with someone nice when the series is all over. I want good things for Sam.

I hope you are having a nice weekend!
