The Gathering | Kelley Armstrong

As per usual, Armstrong hits some very high, strong cords here. I wish I hadn't read it so quickly after reading Patricia Briggs' River Marked. The two sort of overlapped to a degree. (Native Shapeshifters/skinwalkers). I think this series has a lot of potential, but I also really feel that I can't recommend it without the caveat that, it ends both swiftly and with the story just starting to gel together. Chapter two of ATTK doesn’t take us much further than we’ve already been. We’re introduced to Ozzie, a very proud black sheriff. Ozzie takes us to the arrest of the rapists, but first he gives us insight into their victim.

The girl, Tanya, is in surgery, once out, listed as critical. I know what’s coming. I know they are soon going to hear from the doctor that she will never be able to have children—the possibility of motherhood stamped out before the poor girl is even 10 years … view post
