Blue Clay People: Seasons on Africa's Fragile Edge

Blue Clay People: Seasons on Africa's Fragile Edge | William Powers

How Western Consumption Affects Africa

This is an absolutely devastating personal memoir as Powers struggles with how the West 'does' humanitarian work, how we preach economics and how our consuming practices affect the whole world - including the little known corner of Liberia. I could not put this book down as Powers is deeply personal and, despite never finding out all the answers, struggles honestly with the hardest questions. It's only one man's story but an important one to read. read review

  • About Me:

I have a deep-seeded fascination with the world around me. I love to travel and live in "foreign" places and to broaden my knowledge of these places by reading. I am currently focused on learning anything about Africa but I am also concerned with issues such as poverty reduction and effective humanitarian aid. Feel free to reccomend something I might like to read!
