Virtuoso

Virtuoso | Grace Burrowes

Weakest of the series

I went right into The Virtuoso after reading both The Heir and The Soldier and for me it was the weakest of the series. We meet a new set of characters that may have appeared in the intertwined stories of the sisters but had not had significant page time in the previous stories. I still enjoyed it but I had many moments where I found myself pulled out of the story. I found the willingness of the socially high ranking characters to act as valets and lady's maids very odd as well as the huggin… read review

You really should give Harrison a try. It's another of my top faves. Great characters, funny, action, a bit of romance, it has it all. I know some people say they had a hard time getting into the first book but then they loved it.

You should try Saintcrow then. I like both her Dante Valentine and her Jill Kismet series. Dante is complete at 5 books. Jill Kismet has one more book in the series I think (to make it 5 in total). My absolute, absolute favourite series is LK Hamilton's Anita Blake series. It's found in the horror section so it's graphic and gory sometimes. I love the characters and their development. I'm in the middle of a re-read of the whole series so all my reviews lately have been her books.

Glad you enjoyed the series I have recommended. Both series you mentioned are a couple of my faves. The Fever series is sooo good but the cliffhangers kill me. It is so hard to choose (I seem to have a lot of favourites, lol) but if you liked Briggs and Moning, you may want to check out: Ilona Andrews(Magic Bites), Kim Harrison(Dead Witch Walking), Keri Arthur(Full Moon Rising), Caitlin Kittredge(Nightlife). Another fave of mine but darker than some is Lilith Saintcrow(Working for the Devil)
