The Almost Archer Sisters | Lisa Gabriele

Tentative Excitement Morphs into Disappopintment
3 years ago

When it came time to pick another book to review, I chose the well-received The Almost Archer Sisters by Lisa Gabriele (Doubleday Canada, 2008). According to the back cover, it’s about a young mother and her relationship with her fast-living sister Beth and how one weekend “Beth upends everything Peachy thought she knew about being happy.” It had been years since I’d been able to read literary fiction (because of my brain injury), and I wanted my first foray back into this old, familiar terr… read review

I haven't been on this site for awhile, probably much longer than I care to admit, and am starting to feel guilty about that. I'm finding it difficult to keep up with all the social media stuff, and my Chapters community activities have suffered as a result. Plus I'm not real happy with the Terms of Service on Chapters, even with the changes. I haven't had a chance to look at it thoroughly, and will re-evaluate my contributions here when I can. Anyway, I will respond to any notes and requests … view post

  • About Me:

I'm a long-time Torontonian, born in London, lived in Bombay in my early years. A public school grad, I hold a B.Sc. in psychology from the University of Toronto. I've been a researcher, editor, computer programmer, and I've written several short stories and articles. "Lifeliner" is my very first book. I have written my second book, a novel, and am in the process of seeking a publisher for it. And I have recently published "Lifeliner" as an eBook: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/15191

  • My Works:

I've just published my first book, "Lifeliner: The Judy Taylor Story," available here on chapters.indigo.ca. It's the inspiring true story of Judy Taylor, the first person to survive for more than twenty years on intravenous nutrition. No eating allowed!

that is true, definitely. I love rereading Harry Potter. I think I have 3 times, and it still gets me all excited when something adventurous happens, and I find myself thinking 'go Harry, gogogo!! V-mort's gonna gitch yah!' lol!
I haven't even read the last book in that series yet! I KNOW! how crazy is that, right? I'm so into all the books, but I just didn't buy that one. I have to reread the whole series again and then buy the book. omg, it is such a chore! ;)

    Tomato Rodriguez says:

I know, and then its so sad when you finish the series, because its like you're leaving all your friends. I always feel like a piece of me is gone when I read a book, but I also gain two (omg, that is SO corny! I can't believe I just typed that...haha).

Right on. I'm excited to start the second book in a series, called Rebel Angels. The first book was great, my friends love all the books, and I can't wait!
