The Search for WondLa | Tony DiTerlizzi

What An Adventure!

I have to admit, I know the saying is "Don't judge a book by its cover." but did exactly that. After seeing the beautiful and intriguing artwork on the cover of this new story by Tony DiTerlizzi I was hooked, and now, after having finished the book, I find myself both happy and wanting more. I certainly loved this story of adventure and discovery. Of course, the artwork is as breathtaking as it is mysterious - almost haunting in it's other-worldliness - but the story is excellent too. It has ac… read review

Chapters' Communities

Up until recently I honestly couldn't have been bothered with joining discussion groups or the like here on Chapters.ca, but I finally gave in and joined a couple groups and I have to tell you, I'M LOVING IT! I get to discuss books I enjoy with other people who enjoy them! I'm talking about Comic Books, Sci-Fi, or Star Wars - things that most of my friends aren't really into - so it's nice to have conversations with people who are interested in them just as I am. In any case, get out there, … view post

I downloaded "Recovery" and put it on my Kobo Reader. I love that little electronic gizmo, and while it will never replace my faithful paper editions, it is a nice supplement to my library. If you don't have one, then you need to get one.

Glad to hear you are interested in discovering new authors. As a teacher, you probably have the whole summer to do something about it too. HaHaHa. I liked Dragon Tattoo, but you can get more detail about how much I liked it by reading my review of it on my Profile page. Have a good summer.

Yeah, I worked through Philosophi Lapis a few years ago - laborious but fun. Winnie ille Pu, too. I get this guilty frustration with how bad my German, Latin, and OE have become and have fits of trying to improve. I figure familiarity will help build vocabulary from context, like reading as a child, picking up new words unconsciously. Perhaps that's only laziness on my part, though. Dwarves auf deutsch will be more challenging than translated Tolkien, I expect, if I do tackle it.

Hi Adam. I liked Spirit Gate a lot. It's a rich, complex and original world with interesting characters, quite gripping; I'd recommend it. I've actually been toying with the idea of tackling The Dwarves in German if I can get hold of it, but I'm not sure if my German's up to it. I'm currently reading Der Herr der Ringe (very slowly!) trying to get back some fluency (having LR down by heart helps with vocab!). Maybe I'll read the translated Dwarves first, and then tackle the original.

How's Coruscant Nights? I'm debating whether to start that or Millenium Falcon.

Judging from your bookshelves, you're still a kid despite your icon. That's good to know that some of us till enjoy what we couldn't in our childhood.

I'm reading way of the Wolf right now. Valentine is a great character already. I can only imagine how he grows through so many stories. I'm just at the part where he is meeting the original "wolf" in the cave.
