I can't remember if I have read Day of the Triffids, but it sounds familiar enough that I feel like I have...obviously a time for a re-read! Haha!

Yes, I like that films are challenging peoples' minds more, I just wish people would generalize what they learn in movies like District 9 to real life. Most of the time, they respond with indignation that anyone would be treated in such a way, but then go on with their lives never noticing (or noticing and not caring) that it happens right at home

The Midwich Cuckoos was good as well, have you read that one?

    Holly says:

I'm so sorry for the horribly tardy response! I really enjoyed the Chrysalids. I find that when we have to observe prejudice from a distance (such as that which we see in Chrysalids), we become more aware of how silly it is in general. Dystopian novels like this make us look at ourselves a little closer. (I've actually noticed a growing trend in this sort of genre developing in film as well! Super 8 and District 9 being notable examples).

I really liked it! It was a really interesting take on post-apocalyptic society and the whole mentality of "other". I read it years ago, I plan on reading it again when I get a chance. What did you think?

    Hey Troy!

Thanks for the note. I still haven't gotten around to reading Cemetery Dance yet because I have a mountain of books that I need to read. I'm glad to hear that you liked it. That motivates me to push it closer to the top of my reading pile.

I hope you have a great weekend! Happy reading!

  • Lady Ethereal Butterfly

    Lady Ethereal Butterfly says:

I cannot wait to read it either! You'll have to let me know your thoughts on it. I already read some spoilers, so I think is has the potential to be a great read. I hope you enjoy it!

Hi Troy, same here, nice to meet you. I see that you are a fellow horror fan. I picked out some reads from your horror list. I loved the Exorcist.
    Happy Reading.

Prey is one of my favourite books. I just got completely wrapped up in the story. Jurassic Park is another one of my favourites by Crichton.

I can't wait either! I often count down the days before a new Pendergast novel is released. He is just such an intriguing character.

  • Lady Ethereal Butterfly

    Lady Ethereal Butterfly says:

You are more than welcome. I couldn't miss the opportunity to be friends with someone who loved Still Life with Crows and Cabinet of Curiosities as much as I did. You're a fellow Penderholic!!
