When Jesse's Mom learns of a house for rent in the country, the family of two leave the city behind and take up residence in a small seaside community. Jesse has a hard time adjusting--new school, no hockey league and a troublesome classmate that is making matters worse. Jesse's mother works hard in her workshop carving wooden Santas. The Santas however, are not selling as well as she had hoped. In the twenty four days leading up to Christmas, Jesse and his mother come to learn what "believing"… read review

Wanda: Sorry I haven’t been in touch lately. Life is just too busy! Thought I’d let you know that “Until the Deep Water Stills: An Internet-enhanced Novel” won two awards in the Readers View Literary Awards:

    1. Canada East Region Winner
    2. Writers in the Sky Award for Best Creative Writing of the Year

I have also had a short story accepted for publication in “Canadian Voices, Volume 2 – An Anthology of Prose and Poetry by Emerging Canadian Writers”. A good month! Take care, Michael

Hi Wanda: Thanks for accepting my friend request. So great to connect with another fan of the Alistair Sims version of "A Christmas Carol". I don't know why they keep doing remakes. They'll never surpass that version. Quick pitch for my internet-enhanced novel "Until the Deep Water Stills". If you're at all interested take "The Metaphor Tour" for an introduction. Hi Wanda, has your daughter read any more Torrie books? I have the newest one "Torrie and the Dragonslayers" but have been to busy to sit down lately with it yet. There are alot of titles on your bookshelf that I have already read. I just seem to read so much in my spare time and easily devour a book in a few short days, especially weekends and winter is coming up. Have a great weekend and happy reading!

p.s. Tell your daughter "Hi" from me and that I'm glad to hear she likes Torrie. It's great to meet Torrie fans, even if only in cyberspace.

    K.V. Johansen says:

Dragon was my first book, so I'm still pretty fond of it. The new one, Dragonslayers, is a retelling of the same story in a different way. I hope she'll like it too. I wanted to get more in about Sporryl. Sounds like Torrie and the Firebird is the one she's missing. It's about Anna on the Great Southern Continent, and reveals the connection between Anna and Rookfeather. There's a free Torrie short story on my website now: www.pippin.ca - there's a link in my posts. Hope she enjoys that!

Hello, thanks for the friendly hello. I enjoy the Torrie books! Has your daughter read any other of the Torrie books?

    John Mutford says:

    Hi Wanda,
Remember for the last update I asked people to "spot" someone and if they read a book for the Canadian Book Challenge? The bad news is, "Bookgal" still hasn't. The good news is, neither had the other participant's choices. So, since Cheryl Kay Tardiff has three books left to give away, just let me know if you're still interested (jmutford AT hotmail DOT com) as well as which title (Whale Song, Divine Intervention, or The River) and your mailing address. Thanks! John
