Sing You Home: A Novel

Sing You Home: A Novel | Jodi Picoult

Typical

This is a very typical Jodi Picoult novel. Completely extreme in the beginning to get your attention, then very blah in the end. It seemed to me that this novel had A LOT of unnecessary drama for an anticlimactic ending. read review

'The History of Love' is so good - I think you'll really enjoy it.
Haha I keep intending to buy 'Lullabies for Little Criminals', and every time I go to buy it, my ADD kicks in and I buy a different book instead.

Yup, his wife is an author as well. Her name is Nicole Krauss and she has a very similar style to his - though hers is more polished and refined. Her 3rd novel just came out and I haven't read it yet, but her first two are phenomenal (her best being 'The History of Love').

I wanted to go, but couldn't. I'm in AB and really want him to come here on one of his book tours.
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close is epic - I love Oskar and his precocious nature.
Have you read any of his wife's books?

  • stupefaction

    stupefaction says:

Yay! He is my absolute favourite writer. It's quite rare to find someone who has read, or even heard of, Jonathan Safran Foer.
Did you, by chance, attend his reading in Toronto?

Hey, thanks for adding me as your friend!
I see you read 'Feeling Sorry for Celia' - I LOVED that book when I was in grade nine. But then I lost my copy - sad face!

Hey I am so sorry that took so long to et back to you. As far as I know there is no character cross over but I read that ages and ages ago. Like when it first came out so 6 or so years ago. and I am one of those people who doesnt even remember what I had for breakfast. lol.

I hope you have a fantastic long weekend.

My favourite gay teen novel so far would be “Simon Says” by Elaine Alphin. I would also recommend “Hero” by Perry Moore. If you don’t mind reading in first person perspective, than try “Boy meets Boy” by David Levithan. He also worked on “Naomi And Ely's No Kiss List”.

Have you ever read “Cather in the Rye”? If you liked that, than “Someday this Pain will be Useful to you” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” are interesting (though depressing).

Let me know if you want more!

No problem and thanks for the friend invite! It is always a pleasure to cross kindred spirits. I have quite a few GLBTTQ books to recommend but -before I start listing off a million titles- is there anything in particular that you are looking for? (fantasy, modern, drama, erotica, manga, teen novels, etc)
