Alice Munro's Best: Selected Stories

Alice Munro's Best: Selected Stories | Alice Munro

Best of The Best

My first experience with Alice Munro happened not that long ago. I had to read ‘The Red Dress’ for a Grade 11 English assignment. I started the story with my usual misgiving at having been MADE to read something. As I continued into the story my misgiving became less and less. I soon began to identify with the narrator as I have shared many of the same afflictions as she. When I finished reading ‘The Red Dress’ I knew that it would not be my last encounter with Munro. Munro writes with suc… read review

Bookshelves

I know, really interesting title, but in my defense Mr. Smith already took 'A bookcase of one's own' and it doesn't get any better than that.

Two shelves put up on a whim yesterday, and I hope to eventually get a shelf that will reach all the way to the window on the right side, but it will work for now.

Sorry for the blurriness of the photos, I can't seem to keep still. view post

I know! I can't believe the weather. It is so windy and snowy here in Edmonton :( I thought it was spring. Where is the sun and flowers? Oh well, i guess i'll have to stay inside and read :D

I've been on another crocheting kick recently, so most of my reading has been really light. Unless you are looking for a light and steamy vampire series, I don't have any recommendations. The vampire series is the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian, in case you were wondering. What are you reading these days? Anything stand out?

Take care of yourself and talk to you soon!

My mistake. I know there is some teen novel with hunger in the title, but I can't remember what it is. Either way, the one you read does sound pretty bad.

I'm doing alright. How are you doing these days? I didn't really watch much of the Olympics because I'm not a big sports fan. Did you watch and enjoy them? Spring did seem to be on its way here, but it's gotten cold and dull over the last couple days. I think winter isn't ready to leave yet.

I've been in a more "light reading" type of mood lately too. I've never read Hunger Point, but that does sound quite ridiculous. That's a teen novel, right? It seems like a lot of teen books are shallow, superficial, and foolish like that.

OoOo, Shutter Island looks good. I have it sitting on my shelf. I'll have to give it a read soon.

I'm reading The Bizarro Starter Kit and also Undead and Uneasy.

Have a stellar Tuesday! Happy reading & take care!

E-hugs to you too! Have a great weekend!
